This issue opens by examining the population explosion in Canadian prisons. A local newspaper attempts to dispel negative perceptions of prisoners at Matsqui by highlighting some of the good work prisoners do for the community. The Borderview Jaycees have a column detailing their activities and an instructor with the University program is interviewed. Also of interest is the brief article pointing out the addition of barbed wire on the fence surrounding Matsqui Institution.
