In this issue, prisoners consider the current strike by Correctional employees and the new Mission policy which identifies the core values of Canada’s federal correctional system. Three articles approach prison literacy through a variety of angles. One in particular correlates cultural literacy and critical thinking, the second discusses illiteracy and learning disabilities as they affect parole decisions, and the third explores the quality of literacy, which when offered supports rehabilitation as it links knowledge, understanding, judgment and choice.
