The editorial in this is edition challenges the media’s presentation of crime and the public’s perceptions of harm.  One prisoner reviews the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) while others discuss the cats who live behind bars with them and  the Prime Time Ministry.  A prisoner from Eastham State Farm offers some prose on his experience serving time in that institution while another article discusses the situation of guerrilla prisoners in Colombia. Female criminals are discussed in three articles: one lengthy article (originally appearing in Kinesis) addresses the treatment of female prisoners and in particular the inquiry into events at the Kingston Prison for Women; another discusses the issue of why women kill; the third addresses the warehousing of criminals.
