This issue explores several developments in prison life and reform. It discusses the personal transformation of a prisoner who found stability and purpose through writing and eventually earned parole. It also describes the work of prisoner blacksmiths who manufactured low-cost medical walkers for hospitals and schools, as well as the creation of minimum-security satellite camps to provide prisoners with vocational training and rehabilitation.
