The decriminalization of drugs is featured in this issue. Dr. Thomas Szasz makes a convincing argument for free trade in drugs; the members of the Bridgeview Jaycees push for allowing heroin prescriptions; and Peter Drucker contends that the criminalization of drugs is responsible for society’s ills. There is also an excerpt from the Le Dain Commission of Inquiry into the Non-Medical Use of Drugs. The School of Social Work at UBC initiates a project aimed at assisting prisoners with their re-entry into the community and the opening of the regional psychiatric unit is announced.
